Our food co-op program (Friends and Neighbors Network) is a way for families dealing with food insecurity to obtain regular food assistance at a low cost. The members of the co-op meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month. At these meetings, group members make decisions about how to best divide the food available, how to spend the money allotted, and about the general operation of the co-op. Leadership positions are elected by the group and these leaders steer the meetings. At each meeting, all members pay $3 for approximately 40 pounds of food, provided through Atlanta Community Food Bank.
